Coach Lou Abbott

Coach Lou has been involved with SCAT since 1999 and began working with the team in 2000.  Lou  specializes in swimmers technique and works with our athletes on improving their swimming skills.  Lou has worked with the St. Cloud High School swim team on technique since 2002.  In 2006, Lou began coaching the SCHS swim team.  In 2002 and 2003, Lou observed at the Lake Highland Swim Camp with coaches from Lake Highland and the
Ohio State Coaching Staff.  She has also participated as a coach at the 2003 Connecticut State Games and the Colorado State Games in 2005, 2007 and 2009.  In 2006, 2007 and 2008,  Lou coached at the Auburn
University Swim camp with teaching experts David Marsh and Richard Quick.  Also attending the camp was Olympian Rowdy Gaines.  In 2001 Lou was a People to People Sports Ambassador chaperoning athletes attending events in New Zealand and Australia.  In 2003 she chaperoned athletes with Sports Tours USA to the Sweden Games.  Lou served in the U.S Air Force from 1988 to 1992, was the Air Force Athlete of the Year and the Tactical Air Command Professional Provider of the Year in 1991 at the Myrtle Beach Air Force Base.  Lou is also an avid golfer and softball player. 

  

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Coach TJ Walters - Head Coach 

Coach TJ began his swimming career as a member of the SCAT team at the age of nine.  He then went on to swim with St. Cloud High School where he participated in the Florida State games for three consecutive years.  While in High School he began working with the team and coaches on swim technique.  In 2001 he assisted with the St. Cloud High School swim team.  In 2002, TJ began coaching the SCAT team during our summer program.  From 2005 to 2008, TJ became a full-time coach with SCAT.  In late 2010, TJ returned to SCAT as the Head Coach.  In August 2010, Coach TJ was announced as the Head Coach for the St. Cloud High School Swim Team.

 Coach Beth Walters 

Coach Beth is one of the originating founders of the St.Cloud Aquatics Team.  Having a background in swim and as the Aquatics Supervisor at the Chris Lyle pool, it's only natural that Beth's path led her to coaching the swim team.  She began coaching in 1991 when her two young boys were beginning to swim and also members of the team.  As the Head Coach of SCAT she was intrumental in growing the program to what it is today.  She is ASCA Level 3 Coach Certified.  She teaches Coach Safety Instruction Training, Water Swim Instructor Training, Lifeguard Instructor Training, First Responder and Professional Rescuer Training.  Beth teaches swimming to Developmental Swimmers and gives swim lessons for children 6 monthe and older.  Bethe currently has 30 lifeguards reporting to her at the pool and is responsible for their continued training in life safety skills.

 

 

 

Coach Stephen Steele

Stephen has been a member of SCAT since he was 8 years old.  As a member of the Harmony High School swim team, Stephen was recognized for his participation on the 200, 400 and Medley Relay Teams at the FHSAA State Swim Meet.  Stephen was on the All County Swim Team for 3 years as well as the Oceola Gazette Swimmer of the Year.  In 2009, Stephen was an Assistant Coach with the Harmony High School Swim Team.  Stephen is a life guard with the City of St. Cloud Parks and Recreation and teaches new swimmers classes.
